YOUR TRAINING INSTRUCTOR
Canadian Running Coach, competitive Masters runner and Alexander Technique practitioner, Malcolm Balk is the originator of the ‘Art of Running’.
His popular workshops have featured in Runner’s World, The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian. He is the co-author of the bestseller “The Art of Running: Raising your Performance with the Alexander Technique” (Malcolm Balk and Andrew Shields Collins & Brown 2009)
OUTLINE for days 1 and 2
Day 1 – Foundation
Experiential learning:
Alexander Technique Principles applied to Running Technique Fundamentals
– experience the process of change and improvement in your running
– identify and help change habits and movement patterns which can lead to injury
– discover the benefits of running with more ease, less tension and more enjoyment
– Learn the skills required to demonstration standard
Day 2
Teaching Fundamentals:
Engagement and Assessment: your role as a guide in the learning process
Analysis: observation and effective use of video analysis tools
Build confidence in runners
Effective demonstration of drills and skills and feedback
Teas/coffees for the breaks and a buffet lunch will be served on both days. We regret that we are unable to cater for specific dietary requirements.
DAYS 3-4 :13th and 14th May 2017 Bristol (venue tbc)
PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Be a qualified teacher of the Alexander Technique
Either a regular runner or for non-runners will have begun training on a ‘coach to 5k’ programme.
